Just big enough for us to keep all my son’s favorite Thomas toys in. The sides of the beds feature grooves for pushing Thomas and the other engines from the Island of Sodor in.
The inside portion of the footboard features a small niche that toys can be put in. And the top part of the headboard (which is actually the back part of Thomas) features a couple of of shelf/niche type areas perfect for books, toys, or stuffed animals.

My youngest son (who just turned 20 months) has this bed so I can offer some personal insight into it. First, I have to say that I bulked a little at first when I saw the $300ish price tag that was attached to it. But his love of all things Thomas and my “they are only young once” philosophy soon won out and I shelled out the money for it. Boy, am I glad I did! He is absolutely loves his Thomas the Train bed and he proudly shows it off whenever someone comes over.
As for the bed itself, it is sturdy and seems well made which isn’t surprising since Little Tikes (who makes it) always seems to put out quality products. I will say that my husband did struggle a little getting it together. It is a bunch of plastic pieces that have to snap into one another and a couple of them just weren’t fitting great. Once he got it together though, it has been fine.
The other thing you may want to be aware of is that you will need to go buy a piece of plywood to set in the bottom of the bed. Otherwise, the mattress will keep sinking in. This cost us less than $10 to do and they give you the measurements you need for it in the instructions that come with the bed.
Finding the Best Deal on the Thomas the Train Toddler Bed
Thomas is a hard guy to come by when it comes to toddler beds! Not many places carry him. We went to our local Toys R Us but they were out of stock. Amazon.com and ToysRUs.com were the only places that had him in stock. I ended up ordering from Amazon because ToysRUs was over $25 more after shipping and tax was added.
It worked out great too because they shipped it right to my house and the bed came in two very large boxes so getting them in the car would have been a challenge! So I recommend checking out Amazon.com for the Thomas the Train Toddler Bed.
